The Cards just rehired LaRusso to a one year Managers contract and brought McGuire aboard as hitting coach.

I.m not quite sure what to think about it. It has nothing to do with steroids. Mark was a power hitter with a relatively low BA. His OBP was decent, he did have some patience, but a Batting coach? I'm not so sure he can handle the job

Just read that Soupy Sales passed away at the age of 83. I always had a soft spot in me for Soupy and his crowd. I read he was born in the Bronx I believe. Maybe he was the inspiration for Swisher's pies? RIP Soupy. MaryAnn I'm sure you are too young to remember Soupy but some fellows around here post who I think just might remember Soupy!

Well, the Dodgers lost game one but a nice come back today to split. The Phillies are a tough team, and today's game was a classic pitchers duel between Pedro Martinez and Vincente Padilla. Boy, how brilliant do the Phillies braintrust look by snatching up both Cliff Lee and Pedro to round out their rotation. Pedro pitched brilliantly for the Phillies today and got a no decision. The phillies won 5-1 behid a superlative pitching performane by Cliff Lee. As I said earlier in the pennant race, watch out for the world champs. Great pitching will always stop good hitting. Well, the Dodgers avoided the choke and came out, manned up and dispatched the Rockies. So the NL playoffs look like this:

Cardinals v. Dodgers (open at Dodger Stadium). The Dodgers are 2-5 v. Cardinals in '09.
Rockies v. Phillies (open at Citizen's Bank Park). The Rockies are 2-5 v. Phillies in '09.

Jets (and Mangini) fined for not reporting Favre injury in 2008

Well the NFL levied fines on the Jets and Mangini for not reporting Farves arm injury last year. Why does the injury report even exist? Reporting an injury to a QB simply invites pass rushes on every play.
Could the purpose of the injury report be simply to give info to betters so as to spark more interest in the games thereby substantially increasing the NFL's TV and gate receipt revenue?? OH no the NFL couldn't be depending on the betting community for their livelihood?...

Hey folks, I just read that the Yanks are playing the Dodgers in the Bronx in 2010 on April 13, 14, and 15th. Then, they are playing here in Chavez Ravine on June 25, 26, 27. The Bronx games are mid week and the LA games are weekend. So, everyone, get your traveling shoes on so we can get together and catch a game. Russ, NY here we come!!!!!

Patrick Swayze Dies

One of my favorites, Patrick Swayze sucuumbed to pancreatic cancer today at the age of 57. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family on this sad day. He gave it a galliant fight. All I can say is cancer really sucks. I lost a very good friend to pancreatic cancer 2 years ago-he was younger than Patrick.
