			<description><![CDATA[ Just read that Mauer was a near unanimous winner of AL MVP.  Hats off to a great ballplayer.  That said, Tex came in 2d and Jeter 3d.  I find it hard to fathom
that Tex was ahead of Jeter.  I also find it hard to fathom that Jeter wasn&#39;t closer in the running.  I take nothing away from the accomplishments of Mauer
which are special.  I only provide my commentary to provide some food for thought and perspective. ]]></description>

I.m not quite sure what to think about it.  It has nothing to do with steroids.  Mark was a power hitter with a relatively low BA.  His OBP was decent, he did
have some patience, but a Batting coach?  I&#39;m not so sure he can handle the job

Pedro Martinez and Vincente Padilla. Boy, how brilliant do the Phillies braintrust look by snatching up both Cliff Lee and Pedro to round out their rotation.
Pedro pitched brilliantly for the Phillies today and got a no decision. Equally brilliant was Padilla, who also didn&#39;t figure in the decision. How nice was

			<description><![CDATA[ The Dodgers acquired slugger Jim Thome who told the Sox he&#39;s more interested in getting a ring than he is in reaching 600 HR&#39;s.  He will strictly be
used as a pinch hitter.  Apparently, he told Dodger GM Nick Colletti that he is unable to physically play 1B anymore.  Thome is a class act and a great guy
from all I&#39;ve ever seen and read about him.  I wish him a lot of luck in L.A.
