AJ has settled in nicely. Whew. Still scary sometimes but he seems on top of it. I hope he can pitch a complete game b/c I don't trust our BP other than
Mo. Come on get some runs Yanks!!!

We need to hold on to the lead now. What the heck kind of swing was that by Matsui?? How did he go down and get that pitch?? I'm stillin awe at the raw
power it took to get that ball out of the park. AJ is pitching his best game of the post season! I say let hom go out for the 8th inning. Now let's get
some more runs. Pedro was at 99 pitches so I am not sure Manuel is going to let him back out there. Mary Ann

Ridiculous, why was Jeter bunting!!!!!! Jeter made a bonehead call on that one. Why in the world would he be bunting in that situation??!!??!! Damon has done
nothing, he needs to come thru here. Mary Ann

What a horrible call by the umpire!!!! Screwed us out of bases loaded with Tex coming up. Total BS! Mary Ann

I have repeatedly said not to bring Mo in so soon. We should have let AJ stay in on a tight leash. Now we are in a tough spot--2 on and 1 out. Come on Mo.

Another bad call by the umpire at first base. Who is thisdope? At least it works for us this time. Games should not be decided because of bad calls by the ump-
ridiculous! Mary Ann

MVP tonight is AJ!!!!! Mo was Mo. Maybe the rest of our bp will show up some day. Now, lets take it all in Philly!!!! BTW, kudos to Pedro. He did one heck of a
job. Not unlike CC yesterday.

Series tied 1-1!!!! Mo was making me a bit nervous. Now we swing to the city osf brotherly love for the next 3(so much for home field advantage). AJ was the
player of the game, with bonourable mention to Matsui for his big HR andwas 2-3 on the night. Mary Ann

Sorry I couldn't get here sooner. A few observations. FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY AJ Burnett pitched like the $82.5 million pitcher the Yankees paid for. He
was lights out. Gotta give Pedro his due. He pitched very well as well. Great move to sit Swisher and let Hairston play. Did you see him acting like a little
kid when he got that hit to right? That was special. A-Rod concerns me some. Six strikeouts in 8 at bats. Not good. Hopefully, he turn it around. Matsui
finally showed up as did Teixeira. We still have to take 2-of-3 in Philly. One means we'll have to sweep on the back end, and as they have proven Philly
can win in NY. Glad Andy is getting the ball Saturday.

As they were saying on the postgame, the Yanks have the advantage inthe next 2 pitching matchups, with Andy and CC goingfor us. Lee won't be back until
game 5 so it is important we try like heck to win those 2 games. What worries me is our lack of a bridge to Mo. He cannot pitch 2 innings in the next 3 games
so someone else has to step up. Right now I am basking in the win and AJ's great performance. My boss went to the game with his family tonight. I sure hope
they stayed til the last out because this was a good one! Goodnight all, have to get some shut eye before that alarm goes off at 5:30 am! Mary Ann

Mo needs to put his arm around Hughes and Chamberlain and lay the law down to them....in a fatherly way. I thought Manuel was going to bring Lee back on 3 days
rest? He must have changed his mind.

They are listing Blanton as the game 4 starter for now. I suppose that can always change. Mary Ann

I agree with MaryAnn--who will be and where is our bridge to Mo? That is absolutely critical and likely will rear its tiny head in AP's game as AP
generally doesn't last beyond 6 innings. As a secondary concern, the team is not putting hits together and generating runs. Both of these things must
change in my view b/c we likely don't have the pitching to carry us through without some big bats (as Russ noted earlier). Hopefully the day off will
help. We're on a roll so lets keep rolling. Go Yankees!!!!! 3=27

Even with 3 games in Philly and 2 in NY, I think the Yankees have the home field advantage! I don't see Philadelphia taking 3 in a row, which brings the
series back to New York. If it was reversed and the Yankees had 3 games at home, it would be the Phillies advantage to win it all in Philadelphia for game 6 or
7. I like the Yankees changes!

It is my belief that this series willgo 6 or 7 games. It would be nice for there to be a celebration in the new stadium! My greatest hope is that it will be us
doing the celebrating and not the Phillies. They really are a tough team and this will be quite a battle all the way to the end! Mary Ann

Unlike most of you, I still have faith in our pen, specifically Hughes, Joba, Robertson and Aceves. Sure all of them have had a couple of less than stellar
outings and they haven't been Mo like, but then again neither is Mo. No one, including Mo can live up to the invincability tag we have stapled on Mo. Mo
is the greatest but he isn't perfect. Even God (apologies to Russ) isn't perfect.
Our pen is still the best of the best and I would stack them up against anyone's. The series will be won by the pen. Our team constantly goes deep into the count so the Phillies pen should see more work than ours does. Now if Girardi only lets our horse (Pettitte) pitch through the eighth and doesn't get caught up in his situational book we'll do OK. I loved Stengel he went by the gut, not by the book, and even though I am an Engineer I do believe in the "paralysis by analysis" adage and believe that the GUT synthesizes everything you have learned in life and is far more reliable than the "book" or stats, but that's just me. You don't have to apologize to me Andy. I'm my heart God is perfect. It's us who are screwed up. Unless you're seeing something the rest of us
aren't our bullpen has been shaky at best. Hughes, Joba, Coke and all the rest have the goods, but they can't pitch from fear. They're only going
to be as good as they're confidence will let them. You can't be afraid to go after hitters and throw strikes. Nibbling gets you nothing, but runners on
base. Also, part of the 'pen problem and some of the other problems has been Girardi. He has this sense of urgency that may not be there. He has hooked his
pitchers more quickly than necessary (i.e. Robertson, AJ, etc.). So you and I are on the same page there. Also some of the other moves like pinch running for
A-Rod. One of the dumbest moves any manager could make. A-Rod should never be taken out of the lineup under any circumstances. He needs to take a Valium and
stop over-managing.
