Abreu and Angels Agree to 2 year deal |

Just got notice that Angels and Bobby A have agreed to 2 year deal with club option for a 3d year (I think). Don't know terms but that is good for Bobby
and the Angels.

Good for Bobby. He's a good fit for the Angels. I'm happy for him.

He signed a two year contract for $19 million, a big raise from this year but far short of the $16 million he made in the last yeaer with the Yanks

I am happy for Bobby, he really seems to have found a comfortable home in Anaheim. Looks like his mates, especially Tori Hunter are happy to keep him around as
well. Angels will loose Figgens, Vlad and Lackey to FA, so it will be interesting to see what other moves they make. Mary Ann

In the resigning game I believe Figgens will be the number 1 pick for the Angels. Figgens is the engine that drives that train. I believe the Angels will make
a push for him. If they don't, watch out for the Yankees to go after him and put him in left field. He is very capable in so many places. JMHO

I'm not a big fan of Figgens so I hope the Yanks don't go after him. Mary Ann

From what I've heard about Figgins, and after listening to an interview with Tony Reagans (GM) it sounds like the Angels top priority is to get John Lackey
back into the fold. As to Figgins, apparently he and the club are far apart on a contract. I have to say I am a big fan of Figgins, but not for the Yankees. He
can play just about any position, and play it well, he hits for average and he is a base stealing threat. No matter what, Figgins will land somewhere and he
will improve that team.

The Angels have not demonstrated the aggressiveness to get a top talent who is in high demand--at least lately. So, they'll need to step up if they hope to
sign Lackey. Lackey will be in high demand I believe. we'll see if they are up to it. especially since they have Scott K's salary to deal with. I read
the signing of Scott K pretty much meant Lackey was going elsewhere. Anyway, I agree with Russ, Figgens will improve whatever team he lands with and frankly,
given our aging left field, he might be a nice addition to the Yanks.

Funny you should say that Jeff, because Mark Whicker of the OC Register supposed the same scenario:
Yankees: The champs aren't expected to sign both Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui, meaning the survivor will DH. By signing Figgins and having him in left field, they could make Jeter a No. 2 hitter again. And would it be so radical for Alex Rodriguez to eventually move to LF and let Figgins, a superior third baseman, onto the infield?Source: Orange County Register - Sports
