Clinton by lying under oath, Nixon by stonewalling the truth are two recent examples. We may as well throw in the fact that ALL presidents have been guilty of trying to stack the Supreme Court, by not picking the candidates solely on the basis of qualifications but primarily for partisan politics purposes. We have one of the best justice systems in the world, yet it is terribly flawed. Back to baseball Happy New Year Andy

Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that can be used by dentists and in minor surgery. It also is available as part of ointments used to treat skin inflammation. "Lidocaine and B-12. It's for my joints, and B-12 I still take today," Clemens told Mike Wallace. That said, Roger was the biggest name on the list by far. Followed closely by Andy, in my opinion. Why...b/c they are Yankees so they are always all over the news. So, with Roger making denials and Andy making admissions they want to go after Roger and Andy is their solid piece of evidence. They especially want Roger b/c he is going on 60 minutes with his denial but refused to chat with Mitchell. It is now being played out in the press and having Roger come to chat with the Congress is a great way to get free press. All this means in my view is it is less that they are Yankees and more b/c it is Roger. Hope this makes sense.

I've said before the Mitchell report was designed to embarrass the Yankees. Selig should've never given the responsibility of investigating the steroid issue to anyone directly connected to a baseball team. Especially, someone who is the GM and a part-owner of the Yankees' biggest rival. Jeff is right about Clemens taking the first step down his slippery slope. So now McNamee is right about Andy Pettitte, and right about injecting Roger Clemens, but he's lying about the substance in the syringe? I hate to say it, but that is lame. I think Roger's interview is going to come off badly on "60 Minutes." I was listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio, and he was saying that Mike Wallace is a friend of the Steinbrenners and often sits in George's box when he's at the Stadium. Cowherd called it a "wink-wink interview." Hand picked and I'm guessing they all went over the questions to be asked. I might tune in, but I probably won't. Otherwise he will find himself in the same boat as Barry Bonds. He will be married to any statement he makes. He better hope, if he continues saying he only took B-12 and Lidocaine, McNamee doesn't pull some proof out of his bag of tricks and bury Clemens. They say that Clemens looks forward to meeting with the Committee and getting his side of the story out IFhis schedule and the Subcommittees can be made to work. I didn't know Rocket was that busy. Asking Andy Pettitte there to punch holes in the Rocket's denials makes sense. Please help me make sense of Chuck Knoblauch's presence at this meeting??? Where are the other players who corroborated the findings in Mitchell's report??? Yes, this is about catching the Rocket in lies, but it increasingly looks like an attempt to muddy the reputation of the NY Yankees. As a Yankee fan, I take exception to it. Do I want the game to be cleaned up? Of course I do. I just think that aim should be as wide as possible and by focusing only on the Yankee players named in this very biased report we are taking attention away from the fundamental problem: How do we rid our game of performance enhancing substances?
